Preservation of our mid-century and contemporary buildings is essential. They are a key element in our historic architectural fabric which is often overlooked by many.

The Modern Heritage Project has several purposes.

  • To raise public awareness of the value of the modern movement and the lineage of buildings it has produced
  • To educate municipalities and individuals
  • To practice preservation of these structures
  • To provide advocacy for modern and contemporary design
  • To develop and engage the mid-century and modernist community

We seek to locate and document modern structures in our communities creating an easily accessible database as a resource open to all. This project was funded through the financial support of Edifice Architects Inc. The preliminary work was completed by Ignacio Sardinas, Hiro Kuroki and Edward Ewert.

We currently need volunteer work with:

  • Identifying mid-century commercial and residential structures
  • Legal aspects and advocacy
